What do we say to the specter of burnout?

You chose nonprofit work because you wanted to make a real difference. You care deeply. The work is personal, and it lights you up.

But, somehow, every day feels like a scramble. Big-picture work keeps slipping through the cracks. The urgent crowds out the important.

And strategy time? Hijacked by the latest surprise crisis.

You can feel the burnout creeping in.

I get it because I’ve been there.

If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

When *waves hand around* everything feels messy and the overwhelm hits hard, sometimes you just need someone who gets it. Someone with real-world experience and hard-won clarity. Someone who can help you get clear, confident, and back on track.

I offer practical help for overwhelmed nonprofit teams and new leaders who need a steady hand, a strategic brain, and someone in their corner.

Now take a deep breath and repeat after me:

Your job isn’t just one job—it’s five rolled into one.

IF “OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED” HAD A FACE, YOU’D BE GIVING IT SIDE EYE.

Somewhere between grad school and starting my own business, I traded Fauvism for firewalls (and other things).

Nonprofit work wasn’t my plan. But once I was in, I was in.

I wore a lot of hats over 20 years: grant writer, project wrangler, systems fixer, communications lead, IT translator, executive-level leader.

Notable moments? Led major tech upgrades across 15 locations. Managed ~$17 million in grant submissions annually. Won two local ADDYs for agency annual reports design & execution, along with my colleagues.

I also became a person folks came to when they needed advice.

An art historian walks into the
IT department.

Hey, y'all. I'm kristen. and yeah, i'm That art historian.

I made the tough decision to leave an agency and people I cared about (and still do) to build something more sustainable, more flexible, and rooted in what I do best.

Now I help nonprofit teams with smart strategy, clear thinking, and real-world support–so they can make confident decisions, solve the right problems, and actually get things done.

And then burnout hit.

Whether you’re tackling a tough decision, shaping a plan, or bracing for a hard conversation, you’ll walk away with grounded advice, fresh perspective, and a clear sense of what matters most.

Take confident next steps.

I’ll steer you toward the right kind of support based on your needs. If your goals need more time or a custom approach, I’ll tell you—and we’ll figure out what actually works for you.

Get a plan that fits.

Just fill out a quick form with whatever’s on your mind: stress points, half-formed ideas, or full-blown “what now?” moments.

I pierced my nose on a dare. The plan was for me to be moral support. We got to the studio, my friend hesitated, then dared me to go first. So, I did.
